Back in August 2017, we ran across an Indiegogo campaign that was particularly interesting, the Jamstack portable amplifier. The Jamstack portable amplifier is a small amp that attaches to the back end of a guitar and gives players extreme mobility. Now, I’m sure it does not compare to a nice VOX tube amp or Marshall stack but for practicing and maybe some street jamming, it seems perfect.
The Jamstack is connected via your Android or iPhone and gives you total control and movement. As a part-time musician and full-time teacher, Jamstack’s CEO and Founder, Christopher Prendergast, was inspired to create Jamstack when he wanted to bring his guitar to class but ran into the problem of lugging around all the equipment. He says that the goal is to empower musicians to do more with less gear.
“I remember asking myself if there was a better way and started to play around with the idea that this could be possible and started brainstorming,” says Prendergast. “I am hoping this will bring the electric guitar out of bedrooms and basements and be included in environments like coffee houses and jam sessions the same way the acoustic guitar is. As well as recording.”
Jamstack has numerous features, including but not limited to: 8 hours of battery life, thousands of effects, pedals and tools, the ability to play along with any music downloaded to a user’s phone, and sound quality that can be played at any volume without diminishing the quality.
The original Indiegogo price was $199USD, now that it’s done crowdfunding the price is now $249USD. We’ve reached out again for a review unit and will hopefully have a full review here at some point in the near future.
