Xbox Game Pass January update #2: Five more games added

|
,

After previously announcing that six games were joining the service in January, the second Xbox Game Pass January update sees five games joining the service. In my opinion, Xbox is off to an excellent start with the Xbox Game Pass in 2019.

The games added earlier this month include:

  • Life is Strange 2: Part 1 (January 3)
  • ARK: Survival Evolved (January 3)
  • Farming Simulator 17 (January 3)
  • Absolver (January 7)
  • Just Cause 3 (January 10)
  • Aftercharge (January 10)

Xbox added one more game on January 10th and will be adding four more over the next couple weeks:

  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (added January 10)
  • We Happy Few (January 17 — Xbox One X Enhanced)
  • The LEGO Movie Videogame (January 17)
  • Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (January 24)
  • Saints Row: The Third (January 24)

As with any title in the program, you can play the full base version of these games once they are added. As well, you can save on purchasing the full game and/or any applicable DLC for Xbox Game Pass games.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3

Marvel and Capcom join forces to deliver the most frenetic 3 vs. 3 tag battles ever with Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. This release comes fully loaded, including all previous DLC, Marvel vs. Capcom: Official Complete Works, and boasting full HD 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second. Select some of the most iconic Marvel and Capcom characters, and customize your team with “Heroes and Heralds” mode. Once you’ve honed your skills, hop online and go head-to-head against players from around the world to see who is the strongest in the universe.

We Happy Few

We Happy Few is the tale of a plucky bunch of moderately terrible people trying to escape from a lifetime of cheerful denial in the city of Wellington Wells. In this alternative 1960s England, conformity is key. You’ll have to fight or blend in with the drug-addled inhabitants, most of whom don’t take kindly to people who won’t abide by their not-so-normal rules.

Discover the retrofuturistic city’s dark history as you play through the intertwined narratives of three quietly rebellious citizens of Wellington Wells. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses as they face their pasts, prepare for the future, and engage in activities that aren’t exactly status quo in the artificially enthused society.

The LEGO Movie Videogame

Join Emmet and an unlikely group of resistance fighters in their heroic quest to thwart Lord Business’ evil plans — a mission that Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously unprepared for.  It’s a wild ride with a surprising mix of over 90 playable characters including Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Green Ninja, Gandalf, Shakespeare, Cleopatra and more.

Saints Row: The Third

Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you. The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to a new city, playing out the most outlandish gameplay scenarios ever seen. Take a tank skydiving, call in a satellite-targeted airstrike on a Mexican wrestling gang, and defend yourself against a highly-trained military force using only a sex toy in the most out- landish gameplay scenarios ever seen, igniting a city-wide war that will set Steelport on fire. Strap it on.

Of course, these are just the base games that are being offered up but if you like it enough you can score 20% off the base game and 10% off DLC while the game is part of the Xbox Game Pass.
