Just a few weeks after CES 2019, here we are with an impressive looking Samsung 4K OLED laptop display.

Samsung displays are some of the finest displays in the world. Not only are they in Samsung’s own television, monitor, and smartphone products. But they’re also in their laptops and now they have a world’s first. This Samsung 4K OLED display in a 15.6″ laptop looks like it is going to be killer.

With CES 2019 come and gone, we thought Samsung’s laptop announcements would go quiet for a few months. But that’s not the case at all. Just a few weeks after CES 2019, here we are with an impressive looking Samsung 4K OLED laptop display.

The good news is, Samsung isn’t keeping this display to themselves. As they often do, they will be supplying the display to laptop manufacturers to be used in premium notebooks. SamMobile spotted the announcement on Samsung Display’s website and dished out the skinny on it.

Samsung says the this new Samsung 4K OLED display meets the VESA’s DisplayHDR True Black specification and has full HDR compatibility and extreme color accuracy.

Samsung’s 4K OLED laptop display panel has a brightness level ranging from 0.0005 to 600 nits and a dynamic contrast ratio of 120,000:1. When compared to LCDs, the blacks appear 200 times darker and whites twice as bright.

The spectrum of 3.4 million colors is double that of similarly sized LCD panels and they meet the DCI-P3 standard that’s best suited for video streaming. Samsung says that the panel has a 1.7 times higher color volume when compared to LCDs of the same size. This improves clarity when viewing the display outside.

Samsung hasn’t disclosed who its buyers are for this display but SamMobile speculates Lenovo and Dell might be potential buyers. Samsung says the panels will start mass production sometime mid-February. Of course, Samsung is undoubtedly going to use the panel in their own laptops at some point.
