XIII. There’s a game I hadn’t though about in forever but as soon as I saw Microïds tweet the other day, it invoked a big smile. First released back in 2003 for the original Xbox, PlayStation 2, and Windows, the cell-shaded FPS is getting remade for current-gen systems. This time around, it’ll also be available on the Nintendo Switch and Mac at launch.

While the game only got average reviews, it was definitely a lot of fun and had a wicked style. I personally remember feeling like I was playing a living, breathing comic. This was due not only to the cell-shaded style but also the use of comic frame style bubbles and onomatopoeia for sound effects.
With 13 chapters and 34 missions, players help the main character, XIII, who suffers from amnesia figure out who he is. It’ll be interesting to see how the remake turns out and if David Duchovny will return as the voice of the main character.
XIII returns on November 13th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Swithc, PC, and Mac. It is being developed by PlayMagic Ltd.
