There are multiple ways to recover the messages on an iPhone and you will learn them all here.
Restore Deleted Messages from iCloud Recovery
iCloud recovery is a part of Apple’s iCloud service that allows you to recover various types of data of your iPhone on the web. The feature can be accessed using the web version of iCloud from any compatible web browser on your computer.
If you are ready to restore your data, the following shows how to do it from the web version of Apple’s iCloud:
Launch a web browser on your computer and head over to the iCloud website. Log-in to your iCloud by entering your login details. Then, click on the Settings icon, which looks like what you would see on your iPhone, to open the settings menu.
When the settings menu opens, scroll all the way down and you will see a section named Advanced. Inside the section, you will find links to recover various types of data for your iPhone. Click on any link to start recovering your data.
Using iCloud recover to recover your messages is a pretty easy task as you can see for yourself. However, the downside of the method is it only allows a certain number of messages to be restored. If you want to restore all of your messages, you may want to go for the most recommended method shown below.
Restore Deleted Messages From iCloud Backup
If you regularly back up your iPhone to iCloud, you likely have all of your messages stored in one of your iCloud backups. If that is the case, you can restore the backup on your iPhone and it will restore all the messages for you. These messages will contain the ones that are now deleted from your device.
There are a few things you may want to know before you restore the backup. First, restoring an iCloud backup requires you to fully erase your device. Second, you need a stable Internet connection as your full iPhone backup will be downloaded from iCloud.
With that out of the way, the following shows how you can restore deleted iPhone messages using an iCloud backup:
Launch the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on General followed by Reset. On the following screen, tap on Erase All Content and Settings. It will fully reset your device.
Set up your iPhone from scratch. On the Apps & Data screen, tap on the option that says Restore from iCloud Backup to restore your iCloud backup on your device.
Once the backup is restored, you will find all of your deleted messages in the Messages app on your device.
Recover Deleted Data by Using PhoneRescue [Most Recommended]
If you have noticed, both of the above methods have a few disadvantages and you may not prefer those methods if you are looking for a fast, working, and efficient way to recover your deleted messages.
Fortunately, though, there is an app called PhoneRescue for iOS that allows you to restore deleted messages on your iPhone with ease. Unlike the iCloud recovery method, the app does not limit you on how many messages you can restore. You can recover as many messages as you want on your iPhone.
Secondly, the app does not require you to erase the data on your iPhone to recover your messages. It just does the job without wiping off your data.
The following shows how you get the job done using the PhoneRescue for iOS app on your computer:
Download and install the PhoneRescue for iOS app on your computer. Connect your iPhone to your computer, launch the app, and click on Recover from iOS Device in the app.
Select Messages on the following screen and click on OK to continue.
Preview the messages and select the ones you would like to recover. Then, click on the To Device button to restore the messages on your iPhone.
The app will restore the selected messages directly on your iPhone.
If you really need access to a message that is now deleted from your iPhone, you can restore the deleted text messages on your iPhone using multiple methods as shown above. Once the message is restored, you will find it in the Messages app on your device.
