Sabrent’s Rocket 5 Gen 5 SSD hits 14,000+ MB/s sequential read speeds

Technology is constantly advancing and NVMe SSDs are no exception. Faster SSD read and write speeds mean faster load times in gaming and Sabrent has just announced its Rocket 5 Gen 5 SSD has hit over 14,000 MB/s sequential read speeds in benchmark testing.

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

During a CrystalDiskMark speed test, the latest Sabrent drive hit 14,169.83MB/s read and 12,756.03MB/s write speeds. The company saw similar results in other benchmark tests including 3DMark Storage Test, PCMark Storage Tests, Anvil, ATTO, and others.

As one can imagine, running at such high speeds can cause the NVMe SSD drive to run pretty hot. Sabrent claims that the Rocket 5 Gen 5 SSD runs cooler than earlier Gen 5 SSDs. While they do recommend using the Rocket 5 with their Gen 5 Heat Sink, most Gen 5 motherboards have a built-in SSD heat sink which should be sufficient for heat dissipation. If a Gen 5 drive runs too hot, users will see throttling of speeds and even crashes during use.

Currently, Sabrent hasn’t priced the new drives but they will be available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB formats. The 1TB will have up to 13,000MB/s read and 9,500MB/s write speeds while the 2TB and 4TB models will hit 14,000MB/s read and 12,000MB/s write.
