In addition to the new ASUS ROG Strix lineup, the company has announced updates to its 14- and 16-inch Zephyrus gaming laptops. Both sizes are now thinner and lighter, and feature the OLED ROG Nebula Display.

At a glance, the latest ROG Zephyrus gaming laptops feature:

  • Brand new chassis design: CNC-machined aluminum chassis, Slash Lighting array, and brand-new Platinum White colorway define the machines
  • AI pushes performance to new heights: Both laptops are equipped with cutting-edge AI-accelerated silicon from Intel®, AMD, and NVIDIA® 40 Series GPUs
  • First ROG OLED laptops with ROG Nebula Display: Fast, bright and vivid GSYNC® capable OLED displays have arrived at ROG on both laptops
  • Hyper-efficient cooling: Tri-fan technology, liquid metal, and a vapour chamber on the highest spec Zephyrus G16 help redefine thin-and-light performance

Redesigned inside and out, the Zephyrus G14 and Zephyrus G16 boast an all-new and all-aluminum CNC-machined chassis. This gives these gaming laptops “the perfect mix of weight reduction, structural rigidity, and increased chassis space with an edge-to-edge keyboard design, as well as the inclusion of larger and louder speakers with superior bass response.” In addition, a brand-new colourway is available: Platinum White. We had a sneak peek at an ASUS event in Toronto last month, and the new white colour suits the design quite well. All told the Zephyrus G14 is 1.59 cm thick and only 1.5 kg, while the larger Zephyrus G16 is just 1.49 cm thick and weighs in at just 1.85 kg.

The Zephyrus G14 is powered by up to AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS processors and up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPUs. The Zephyrs G16, on the other hand, is equipped with up to an Intel Core™ Ultra 9 processor 185H with 11 TOPS of AI computation power, plus up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU.

Both models are the first ROG gaming laptops to feature OLED panels. The Zephyrus G14 has a 3K resolution, 120Hz panel while the larger G16 has a 2.5K resolution 240Hz display. The ROG Nebula Display OLED panes feature an aspect ratio of 16:10, VESA DisplayHDR™ True Black 500, a stunning 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, and 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage with a Delta E accuracy of less than 1. Being OLED displays, they also boast an incredibly fast 0.2ms gray-to-gray response time which pretty much eliminates any ghosting while gaming.

A thinner chassis required some improvements to the cooling system as well. Both Zephyrus gaming laptops utilize Intelligent Cooling, high performance liquid metal thermal compound on the CPU, and 2nd Generation Arc Flow Fans for more efficient heat dissipation. With tri-fan technology, the third auxiliary fan helps move air over surface mounted comments at the same time it draws heat away from the GPU. Zephyrus G16 models with the 4080 and 4090 Latpop GPUs are instead outfitted with a custom vapor chamber and dual fans due to the increased cooling demands of those graphics cards.

Available starting in February, the new models are priced (in CAD) as follows:
