CES is in full swing and ASUS ROG has announced the 2024 Strix gaming laptop lineup, including the Strix SCAR 18 — the first 18-inch ROG laptop equipped with the mini LED ROG Nebula HDR Display.

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

The 2024 Strix SCAR 18’s mini LED ROG Nebula HDR Display has over 2000 discrete dimming zones and maxes out at 1100 nits of peak brightness. Coupled with the ROG Nebula HDR Engine, gamers can expect “incredibly vivid HDR performance” alongside “minimized blooming and haloing even in challenging scenes.” We did get a sneak peek at the new systems back in December at an ASUS event in Toronto, and the display on the Strix SCAR 18 doesn’t disappoint. While the ROG Nebula HDR Display is reserved for the SCAR 18, all models in the lineup have a 2.5K resolution with 240Hz refresh rates, under 3ms GTG response time, 16:10 aspect ratio, and 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage.

The complete 2024 ROG Strix gaming laptop lineup features the latest flagship Intel® Core™ i9 processor 14900HX, with the Strix SCAR 16 and SCAR 18 sporting up to an NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 4090 Laptop GPU with 175 W max TGP. The Intel Core i9 processor 14900HX boasts 24 cores and 32 threads, allowing the ROG Strix machines to handle AAA game titles and heavy rendering projects easily. Coupled with up to 32GB of DDR5 memory and up to 2 TB PCIe Gen4 x4 SSDs, these laptops have more than enough to handle just about anything gamers and creators can throw their way.

The 2024 Strics SCAR and Strix G machines featured ASUS’ Tri-Fan technology, which utilizes a third auxiliary fan that increases airflow to surface-mounted components on the motherboard while also helping route excess heat from the GPU toward the heatsinks. Even more, the new lineup also features ultra-high performance Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal, which drastically reduces temperatures compared to traditional thermal pastes.

As far as availability and pricing are concerned, the new models will be available later in Q1 with pricing (in CAD) as follows:
