Project Scorpio: Xbox One X
The moment most gamers were waiting for… the unveiling and official name of the Xbox One X. The updated console received a price point as well and will retail for $499USD.
As you can see in the video above, and from the tidbits leading up to this week, Xbox has embraced the “Feel True Power” slogan for the Xbox One X. The mantra of the original Xbox team way back when was to empower developers, delight gamers, and deliver true hardware and technical innovation and, according to Phil Spencer, there’s no power greater than X. The Xbox One X is currently the world’s most powerful console ever made and sets a new quality standard.
Three years of engineering went into the Xbox One X with three goals in mind: Power, Compatibility, and Craftsmanship. As far as power goes, under the hood, the Xbox One X boasts a 6 Teraflop GPU clocking in at 1.172GHz, 12GB of DDR5 memory, and 326GB/s of memory bandwidth. While numbers are fine and dandy, just what does this mean for gamers? It means gaming at true 4K resolution with 4K textures and 4K assets. That’s 8+ million pixels with HDR support, wide color gamut, premium Dolby Atmos sound, and 4K UHD Blu-ray playback.
When the Xbox One S was released, Microsoft was quick to point out that all existing and future games would work on both the Xbox One and Xbox One S consoles. The same holds true with the Xbox One X and existing games will look and play better on the Xbox One X. By using supersampling, you don’t need a 4K TV to enjoy the Xbox One X either. If you are outputting to a monitor or screen that is less than 4K, like 1080p, the Xbox One X will render games in 4K and downsample them to the output resolution which will result in a better image than a standard 1080p resolution, for example.
Using the Scorpio Engine, the Xbox team focused on making the Xbox One X processor the most advanced console processor ever. The new console even has a liquid-cooled vapor chamber — a first for consoles, optimized power management, and is the smallest Xbox ever. That’s right, it’s even smaller than the Xbox One S. Exact dimensions aren’t known at this time, but once we find out we’ll be sure to let you know.
Forza Motorsport 7

Of course, what would an Xbox E3 briefing would be without a new Forza game? Given the every other year release cycle between Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon, there’s no surprise that Forza Motorsport 7 takes the spotlight this year. Besides more immersive and dynamic racing, and more dynamic weather than ever before, there are over 700 cars to be had in Forza Motorsport 7, and, if the trailer is any indication, semi-truck racing as well.
Dan Greenawalt from Turn 10 took the stage and announced that as part of the recent six-year partnership with Porsche, for the first time ever a flagship supercar would be making its debut at E3. Never seen before, he lifted the curtain on the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS which will also be the cover car for the upcoming game.
Forza Horizon 7 will be released ahead of the Xbox One X, on October 3, 2017, and is exclusive to Xbox One and Windows 10.
