Final Avengers: Infinity War trailer sets up the fight

We’re just over a month away from the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War, and what better time than now to release the final trailer? The movie is already receiving hype like crazy, so there’s little doubt it’s going to do well at the box office, but Disney and Marvel know how to whet the appetite of even ravenous fans.

If you haven’t seen it already, check out the trailer below and then stick around after for some commentary:

I’m just going to say it: I don’t like the initial setup for Thanos. Sure, I realize they need to introduce him as the big bad and explain why all of the heroes we’ve seen thus far are teaming up to fight him, but Gamora’s speech from the outset just sounds cheesy. I’m hoping that’s just put in the trailer to quickly set up the stakes, as Marvel has absolutely added footage to trailers that isn’t in the full movie before, but with as much ground as they’ll need to cover in the film’s runtime maybe a few shortcuts in the narrative will be necessary.

With that out of the way, the rest of the trailer is really pretty badass. We see the team assembling, and assembling in far greater numbers than we’ve seen up until this point. It’s been said before but this is truly the culmination of the last 10 years of Marvel movies. We’re given plenty of looks at heroes in peril, and it’s pretty safe to assume that not everybody will be coming out of this movie alive. That said, even with the overall serious tone, there’s still some room for a bit of levity. Tony Stark meeting Star Lord is absolutely a highlight, as is the post-trailer meeting between Peter Parker and Doctor Strange.

All in all, this trailer has done nothing but increase the hype for this movie. Tickets are available for pre-order now, with the movie releasing on April 27th.
