BlackBerry KEYone Android Oreo update now rolling out in Canada

Even though Android 9 (a.k.a. Android Pie) was just recently released, there are still plenty of devices that aren’t yet on Android Oreo. That list just got one device shorter as TCL Communication has announced that the BlackBerry KEYone will be receiving a software upgrade to Android Oreo 8.1 for BlackBerry KEYone users in Canada.

The BlackBerry KEYone was released just over a year ago, and even though it has a small but dedicated following, TCL recently released the BlackBerry KEY2 with Android 8.1 (Oreo). On that note, it’s nice to see the device getting upgraded, however, with Android Pie now out the next question KEYone owners will be asking is if their device will be upgraded to the newest version of Android as well.

Some of the new features users can expect include Google’s Autofill for easier password entry, picture-in-picture support, adaptive icons, and more.

The update with the OS upgrade started rolling out around 9 a.m. EST so if you have a KEYone you should get that update available notification soon. If not, you can always check for updates in your Settings > System > System Updates screen to hopefully move it along quicker.
