Canon U.S.A., Inc. is showcasing their new line of Full HD IP Video security cameras at ASIS 2013. Canon will have eight models available including Pan-Tilt-Zoom, Fixed Dome and Box style cameras. Canon is boasting precision optics and outstanding image quality. Maybe the days of those blurry convenience store robbery images are over.

The makers of the Structure Sensor (Occipital) claim their device can not only scan things in 3D, but it will allow you to “play augmented reality games, develop mobile applications and capture models of rooms.” Here’s just a little more of what the folks at Occipital had to say.

Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC and Taco Bell have teamed up to give away some PlayStation® 4s to hungry fans. This is not the first time Sony and The Bell have teamed up for a promotion like this, last year they did the same with PS Vita. BlackBerry Ltd announced their preliminary second quarter fiscal 2014 results on Friday, and the results are no surprise to most in the mobile market. The results show a clear loss (operating loss of $950 million) for Blackberry as well as a workforce reduction of over one-third.

NASA’s Curiosity rover has sent back data showing that the Mars environment does not contain methane gas. Previous data had shown that there was methane gas on Mars so this latest report has left scientists puzzled. Curiosity has been on a mission to find traces of methane in the atmosphere because methane gas is an indicator of potential life.

The platform players have been shaved down to three major runners, Android, iOS, and Windows Phone (one can make an argument for Blackberry pulling up the rear).
