I remember when I first read about the OnePlus One. My first thought was how the heck do I get one. After reading about OnePlus‘ registration system, I registered immediately and hoped that both money and invite would befall at a convenient time. Today, it was the OnePlus Two’s turn to be ravenously sought after in a frenzied, unannounced registration period where OnePlus is now allowing people to register.
The number surpassed 20,000 earlier today, but the number of actual registrants is unknown. As of now, if you go to the invites section of the OnePlus page and scroll to the bottom, you can sign up to get a hand me down invite that expired from it’s original recipient. When I tried to register, however, I got the following message.
So apparently too many people want in, and judging by the previous specs and price point of the OnePlus One, can you blame them? The OnePlus Two is expected to be announced on Monday, July 27, and the OnePlus website answers the question of when we’ll be able to purchase a OnePlus Two without invites.
“We will be keeping the invitation system for the foreseeable future. In order to get a OnePlus 2, you will need to be invited by another OnePlus 2 owner or by participating in our contests and promotions. Follow us for the most up-to-date information.”
The OnePlus website also says that,
“Invites are sent out on a rolling basis and will only become more plentiful as time goes by. An invite guarantees that you will be able to buy a OnePlus 2.”
Good news for those who missed this invite registration opportunity, but are still interested in purchasing the One Plus Two. Hopefully the phone will live up to its hype.
