The iPhone X has been an incredibly popular device. It’s sold like hotcakes and Apple has clearly been pleased with the results. They’re likely less pleased with the latest feature defect that some users have discovered with the iPhone X. Several users have reported seeing a bright green line running down the side of their iPhone X display.

So far, around 20 reports have come through from various sources including Twitter, Apple Support, and the MacRumors forums. Affected users have come from all over the world too, with reports coming out of the US, Poland, Canada, and Australia. No single iPhone X model seems to be the culprit either, as users have reported this green line on both 64GB and 256GB models in Silver as well as Space Grey.

None of the affected users claim to have dropped their phone or exposed it to any other potential problems, the line has just seemed to come completely out of nowhere. This is an annoyance to be sure, but the good news is that Apple is replacing the faulty phones at no cost to the owners as well as gathering as much information about the defect as possible in order to try and prevent it from happening in the future.

The iPhone X is famously using an OLED display purchased from Samsung, a first for any iPhone model. Samsung had a similar issue last year with the Galaxy S7 edge, though in that case, their lines were pink. This is still a relatively small issue at this time, though if you do happen to have an iPhone X with an unwanted vertical green line, you should probably make an appointment with your local Apple Store to have your phone replaced.
