First detailed look at new Xbox Avatars in leaked video

Avatars were pretty front and center on the Xbox 360 but were sent to the backburner when the Xbox One was released back in 2013. At E3 2017, Xbox announced a revamped Avatar app and system would be coming soon but, as of yet, there haven’t been any real updates since then. That is until a forum user over at ResetEra discovered a YouTube video uploaded by a former Microsoft designer that showcased what could potentially be the new app running on Windows 10.

As you can see from the video above, users will be able to customize your online Xbox Avatar in a number of ways including being able to customize your face, hair, body type, limbs, makeup, clothing, props, and more. If the video is any indication, you’ll be able to get pretty detailed and be able to customize your avatar right down to the fingernails and eyelashes. As the new system is being built on the Unity engine, costumes from the existing avatars system won’t be available for the new avatars. The video above shows the Xbox Avatars app on Windows 10 but it will also be available on the Xbox One.

Originally planned to be released last fall, the latest rumours indicate that testing could begin later this month presumably for those in the Xbox Insider Program.
