These were our Top Ten popular posts of 2018

We’ve come a long way here at Techaeris over the past five years. From starting off as a one-man show to seeing writers come and go over the years, our current crew, albeit small, works hard to bring you daily tech, gaming, and other news and content in addition to having full-time jobs.

So we thought it would be fun to run down the top ten popular posts of 2018 chosen by YOU, our readers (which we can’t thank you enough for), based on views. Of course, there are a few days left but the list likely wouldn’t change. And yes, of course, it’ll be slightly skewed as articles published in January have more time to garner views but that really wasn’t the case.

In fact, our top article — once again — was a How To from 2014. Of the top ten, four were gaming related, three being from our Forza Horizon 4 #Forzathon weekly series. Enough rambling, let’s check out our top ten popular posts of the year, starting with #10!

#10. Forza Horizon 4 #Forzathon November 22-29

The Forza Horizon 4 #Forzathon November 22-29th event gave you a chance to earn an extra 100 or 200 #Forzathon Points with a Super GT car. Read the article.

#9. Some Google Plus users begin migrating to the MeWe social media platform

Now that Google is sticking the fork in its Google Plus social media platform, there is a huge swath of Google+ users who are searching for a new social media home. Many users aren’t at all keen on Facebook or Twitter so they’ve been hunting for alternatives. Some have ended up at pluspora, some are migrating to mastodon, and others to Friendica. But a large number have found a place they believe could be what they once had in Google Plus: MeWe. Read the article.

#8. PUBG mobile starts you out against bots to “ease” you into the game

PUBG or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is now on your mobile device just like Fortnite only this time, you’re winning much more easily than you would if you were playing on PC or Xbox and there’s a reason for that. Read the article.

#5. Help! Wireless vs. true wireless headphones – what’s the difference?

wireless headphones

With the release of new wireless/wire-free/true wireless headphones, you might be getting confused with all this wireless and true wireless verbiage. #4. Baby Driver Subaru Impreza WRX goes up for sale

Baby Driver Subary Impreza WRX FI

Movie and car fans flocked to this article. If you’ve seen Baby Driver, you already know it’s a pretty fantastic film. The car in the movie — a 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX — really almost feels like a character on its own. As is often the case in movies, there wasn’t just one car used for filming, there were a total of six. One of the cars was offered at the Mecum auction in Houston earlier this year. #3 HOW TO: Change system date in OS X from Terminal

system date

It appears changing the system date in OS X from Terminal is still something people can’t figure out how to do. If you’ve left your Mac laying around for a very long time or if you bought a used one, the system date may be out of whack. Often times the system date on neglected Macs gets reset to the year 2001 which prevents you from reinstalling OS X. More often than not you’ll get an error that reads, “An error occurred while preparing the installation. Try running again.” At this point many people will just throw in the towel and figure the computer is toast. But that’s usually not the case. Here’s some simple steps to change the system date in OS X from Terminal when doing a fresh install. Read the article.

#2. Google’s link shortening service is being shut down and replaced with FDL

link shortening

Google shut down, or announced the shutting down, of more than one of its services this year. Google announced they are making the move to shut down its link shortening service to concentrate on FDL. According to Google, Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL) are smarter URL’s that direct users to any location in mobile apps. FDL should also not be considered a direct replacement to as it is only beneficial to developers. Read the article.
