Typo iPhone Case Gets Hit With Court Ordered Sales Ban

Typo

Typo, the iPhone 5/5s keyboard case that brings a physical keyboard to the iPhone 5/5s has been ordered to cease sales of its case by a US district judge in San Francisco. If you remember sometime last year, Blackberry decided to sure Typo because they felt the companies case looked too similar to Blackberry’s iconic keyboard. CNET and Reuters report that US District Judge William Orrick ruled in favor of Blackberry, saying that they proved the “likelihood” of infringement and Typo had not given evidence to refute that.

GameStop Growing Its Business Through Tech Not Gaming

CNET is reporting that Gamestop will be opening another 300-400 stores over the next year. But these stores will be selling Apple products and other mobile devices. We all know GameStop as one of the biggest gaming retailers out there, they’re not hard to find. Well, the company is aiming for a broader growth footprint branching out from gaming products to technology products. GameStop’s “Technology Brands” division already operates 200 of these types of stores in the United States and they generate around $63 million dollars in annual revenue. And let’s face it, technology products, especially mobile, wearable and portable products, are just growing in popularity and demand so it seems a natural way to go.

Elon Musk and Tesla Motors have announced new safety additions to its Tesla Model S electric vehicle. New titanium underbody shields and aluminium deflector plates are now being installed on all Model S vehicles manufactured since March 6th 2014. If you recall, the Tesla Model S was in the news a couple of times due to battery fires which drew a lot of media attention. Elon Musk was quick to point out that his two Tesla incidents received more press than the 200,000 gasoline incidents in the US that same year.

Amazon Diving Into Streaming Media Next Week

amazon_instant

Re/code is reporting that Amazon will be releasing a set top streaming box next week allowing users to stream Amazon content to their TVs, this pits them squarely against Apple, Google and Roku in the streaming space. Apple has reportedly sold 13 million Apple TV units while Roku is in a hot second with 8 million. Google brings up the rear, without a solid metric but said to be in the millions, with it’s wildly popular Chromecast. The set top streaming space has no clear leader at the moment, I think people are still feeling this market out.

HTC M8, Samsung S5, It’s Your Turn Apple

iPhone6_Render2_Apple

HTC just announced and unveiled their newest flagship phone, the HTC One M8. The M8 is the much anticipated follow up to last year’s HTC One M7. Initial impressions and reactions seem to be positive for the M8. Having owned the M7 before my current iPhone 5s, my initial impressions of the M8 are also positive. It seems HTC has managed to take an excellent design and make it that much better.

Kickstarter: Planets³, A Voxel-Based World Building Game

Planets3_ConceptTree_high_rez_2

I was recently told about a Kickstarter campaign for Planets³, a game that was described to me as Minecraft/Terraria/Starbound mixed with deeper RPG elements inspired by games such as Mass Effect, Skyrim, and Zelda.  Having played all of those games for more hours than I can count, my interest was certainly piqued.

Another iPhone 6 Render Video This One Shows A 6″ Screen

iPhone 6_Render2

Smartphones have become something of a sport over the past few years. People identify with the device they have in their pockets and people defend their chosen devices to the teeth (much like sport fans). Currently Android and HTC fans are watching the announcement of the new HTC One M8. And soon after the announcement is made the blogs will be feeding the information back to the people. Like fans of any phone, iPhone fans are no strangers to build up and anticipation.

Review: UNU Aero Wireless Charging Case iPhone 5/5s

UNU-Aero

The competition in the iPhone battery case arena is so hot I’m finding it hard to say anything really new about them. I’ve reviewed several battery cases for the iPhone 5/5s in just a few short months. Each one did what it was supposed to do and each one had their share of quirks and really nice features. So, what could a company possibly do to stand out from all the other battery cases? Go wireless.

Review: Bell’O Digital BDH751 Sport Earbuds

The world of headphones and earbuds is a vast sea of “what in the world should I buy!?” While at CES 2014 I spoke to no less than a dozen different headphone/earbud manufacturers. One of those companies was Bell’O Digital. They caught my eye with their beautiful, straight forward and minimal packaging of their sport earbuds. They were kind enough to send us a pair of their BDH751 sport earbuds to test out and review.

Top 10 Must-Have Chromecast Apps

It will come as no surprise to anyone who follows me on Techaeris when I say that I love the Google Chromecast. Earlier this year, I wrote an article as to whether the $35 dongle mattered and why; in short, I believe it matters because the proliferation of the device and an open SDK is helping Google create an industry standard for casting content to screens in a market where others have had either marginal success or failed.

Feeling A Little Anti-Social? Then Cloak Is For You

cloak

Social media is more popular than ever. Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Instagram, Foursquare and Pinterest each have millions upon millions of users. One of the key similarities of these services is the ability to share your location with family, friends and even people you don’t even know. So what do you do when you’re out and about and you run into one of those people? Do you stay and chat even though you really don’t want to? Do you wish you could have seen them coming so you could avoid them?

Sacramento Kings Give Fans A Google Glass Perspective

Tech wearables are starting to gain traction in the mainstream, and no where is this more noticeable than with Google Glass. Virgin Atlantic is experimenting with Glass on select flights and the military is even taking a page from Glass to build their own version. Now Glass is making its way into the world of sports. The Sacramento Kings have plans on wearing Glass to give the fans a perspective of the game ranging from the sidelines to the cheerleaders view (and maybe soon the players perspective itself). Sacramento Kings Ben McLemore and Ray McCallum joined General Manager Pete D’Alessandro and Kings Assistant Coach Micah to demo the idea in a YouTube Video. I really enjoyed the first person perspective from the ball players point of view, check it out after the break.

The first cloud Storage I used on a regular basis was DropBox because it was easy to upload, download and share to anyone via email or link. It has been the most popular backup solution for a great many people world wide.dropbox-logo
