Review: STM Impulse Medium Laptop Backpack

Impulse-8

While out at CES this past January I ran into STM, a company that makes bags, backpacks and cases for laptops, tablets and phones. STM was a sponsor of one of the press events in Vegas that week. They were kind enough to send me one of their Impulse laptop backpacks so I could test and review it here for you. We had a great time talking and meeting with STM while at CES, so let’s get to the review.

HTC Dot View Case Front Off

My View On The Dot View: HTC’s Case For The One M8

HTC Dot View Case Front Off

I’ll  be honest. I am not a huge fan of cases. When I buy a phone I don’t want anything to add to the bulk of that phone. Every now and then I will flirt with cases. I will buy them, use them, stop using them, etc. For the most part I just end up not using them. Sometimes my feelings on a case depend on the case and the device. Some devices are so ugly that they demand a case (I’m looking at you G2.) Some devices are so pedestrian that cases add excitement but I still fall back into that hatred of extra bulk. Then there are devices that are so beautiful that it almost seems criminal to put a case on them. Last year’s HTC One fell into that last camp and this year’s HTC One (M8) falls into that camp even more.

Review: Roku Streaming Stick (HDMI Version)

Roku-1

Odds are pretty good that you’ve heard of Roku, even if you don’t own one. Roku is one of the most popular streaming set-top box makers in the world, bringing high definition video entertainment directly into your living room almost exclusively via a small, square, purple box.

The times are always changing, and the latest craze is streaming dongles like the Google Chromecast.

Review: Mobile Puzzle Game for Android/iOS

VexPuzzlesPromoPhone3

I recently got my hands on the newest game from Itzy Interactive – Vex Puzzles.  Vex Puzzles is a match 4/block elimination puzzle game with a few twists.  Most notably, the way you actually have to twist your phone during some puzzles to move your blocks.  Not all of Vex’s 480 puzzles require your phone’s accelerometer, but enough do that I would be sure to have two hands available during gameplay.

All New HTC One (M8) Reviewed

HTC-One-M8

In 2013, HTC was coming off of a rough year. They had gone a year with the One X as their flagship device, and though reviews placed the device on equal footing with the Samsung Galaxy S III, sales were faltering. At that time HTC was using a similar camera to the S III and was also using a polycarbonate shell.

Kinivo

Many of us have more than one television.  Many of us also have cable boxes, game consoles, PCs, etc. that we’ve connected to one of our televisions.  But what if you’d like to watch content from those consoles, cable boxes, etc. on one of your other televisions without uprooting all of your hardware?  Kinivo offers a wireless HDMI extender that will come to your rescue.

Review: UNU Aero Wireless Charging Case iPhone 5/5s

UNU-Aero

The competition in the iPhone battery case arena is so hot I’m finding it hard to say anything really new about them. I’ve reviewed several battery cases for the iPhone 5/5s in just a few short months. Each one did what it was supposed to do and each one had their share of quirks and really nice features. So, what could a company possibly do to stand out from all the other battery cases? Go wireless.

Review: Bell’O Digital BDH751 Sport Earbuds

The world of headphones and earbuds is a vast sea of “what in the world should I buy!?” While at CES 2014 I spoke to no less than a dozen different headphone/earbud manufacturers. One of those companies was Bell’O Digital. They caught my eye with their beautiful, straight forward and minimal packaging of their sport earbuds. They were kind enough to send us a pair of their BDH751 sport earbuds to test out and review.

TUNZ_3_TYLT

We’ve reviewed a fair amount of TYLT products here at Techaeris, and we rated all of them very high. This time around TYLT sent me their TUNZ Bluetooth speaker to check out and review. Of course, being  no stranger to TYLT, I expected top of the line packaging and they didn’t disappoint. TYLT is one of those companies who puts thought into the entire experience of buying a product. From packaging to final product.

Review: Limefuel L28N5 Nexus 5 Battery Case

Limefuel-Battery-Case-N5

There is no shortage of battery cases for the iPhone, and there are a decent amount for the Samsung Galaxy S4. They’re all over the place on Amazon and various other online retailers. But it is a rare thing indeed to ever find such a thing for Google’s flagship Nexus phone, the Nexus 5. However, we ran across a crazy awesome company called Limefuel and they’ve taken it upon themselves to create one just for you and me…the Limefuel L28N5, a 2860mAh battery case for your Nexus 5.

Kickstarter Review: Fuz Designs’ Everdock

Everdock

Kickstarter is an awesome way to discover new tech and after a successful venture with LimeAde I decided to show my support to another venture and invest in Fuz Design’s Everdock: Universal Dock.

While I am a proud owner of an HTC One, I am disappointed in the lack of accessories on the market for my handset.  From docks to cases, I was having a hard time finding something that catches my eye so when I came across Everdock, I was delighted.  This dock touts itself as universal catering to all devices by simply switching out the cord via the cable adapters.

App Review: Learn A New Language With Duolingo

Duolingo_logo

The details of the English language are something that I have always been very good at, and consequently, I had always had an interest in other languages. Especially interesting to me is the language of my ancestors, specifically German. I had taken two German language courses in college, but had always found the pace too rapid to learn the language effectively. Sure, I’d gotten some key base knowledge down, but the courses weren’t at a pace that suited me.

Review: iRigHD And AmpliTube For iPad

iRigHD1

One of my passions in life has always been music. I grew up around a family of musicians…uncles, aunts, cousins, dad, and my brothers were all musicians. So, naturally, I followed that path. I started playing drums when I was seven years old and graduated when I was 11 to the king-of-the-hill (in my eyes), the guitar. If you would have told me twenty-eight years ago that I would be playing my guitar through a small TV-like device that emulated the sounds of  The Eagles, Pink Floyd, and Aerosmith, I would have called you insane.

Review: iBattz Battstation Tough Dual Pro 12000 mAh

BattStation 12000_1hr

I think that we can all agree that an external battery pack is really expected to do one thing – charge stuff.  I can say with the utmost certainty that the  iBattz Battstation Tough Dual Pro 12000 mAh does that with aplomb.  With 12,000 mAh of portable power, this spare will charge your devices far longer than many other portable batteries on the market.  With that out of the way, I feel that it’s probably more beneficial to discuss some of the things that set the iBattz apart from it’s competitors.
